Testudinus is a common name for this plant. The majority of their diet is derived from the warm waters of the Indian, Pacific, and Atlantic oceans. ![]() The skin of a puffer fish differs from that of a common fish in that it is thick and rough. The felix delicacy is one of Japan’s most famous.Ī puffer fish is commonly referred to as fish-scythes or fish-dogs. If a pufferfish is alive or dead, it can kill both humans and dogs. Because the fish’s liver contains a high concentration of a deadly poison known as tetrodotoxin (TTX), paralysis can occur if it is consumed. Hepatic liver from a puffer fish, also known as fugu, is regarded as a delicacy in Japan. The world’s most venomous fish, the scorpionfish, is a close relative to the stonefish. There is no known antidote for the toxin found in pufferfish, which kills 30 people in one blowfish. The toxin tendrodotoxin blocks sodium channels, which are responsible for nerve and muscle functions. Their jaws are large, their heads are large, and their eyes are high on the sides of their heads. Their bodies are made of heavy, thick, and inflatable material that is typically less than 12 inches long (and weigh less than 12 ounces). They are also known as botetes in Mexico. Several types of puffers can be found in estuarine habitats. The checkered puffer is typically reported to be 30 cm long but many specimens are much smaller. There are, however, some differences between the puffer and the other fish in this family. Adult spiders are more likely to be found in close proximity to the land. Coral reefs and rocks, as well as the bottom of the ocean, are common places for them to congregate. The puffers prefer shallow water or water that is not deep. Coral reefs and seagrass beds are home to this type of fish. There are many different types of pufferfish in the puffer family, but pufferfish are the most common. Puffers: A Family Of Fish With A Unique Pattern These fish prefer a large aquarium because they can coexist with other fish species. Parakeets, echinoderms, mollusks, plants, and polychaetes are the primary sources of food for Bandtail puffers. They are big enough to be inflated when they reach seven days old. This special defense mechanism is used to propel the pufferfish to higher altitudes.īecause a spiky ball is a difficult snack for predators to consume, they may avoid puffers. Pufferfish, in addition to inflating when threatened, have a tendency to do so as well. The sea turtle can be found in shallow waters or deep waters, reaching depths of 225 feet (68.5 m). The fish is found in the waters off the coasts of Mexico, Brazil, the Caribbean, and Florida. A bandtail puffer (Sphoeroides spengleri) is about the length and width of a medium- sized fish and has an elongated body. ![]() Because of their venomous venom, small marine creatures like these can be extremely dangerous. ![]() In the Atlantic Ocean, this tiny species of pufferfish (Sphoeroides spengleri) can be found in seagrass beds and coral reefs. Their ventral side is flat, as are their colors: white on the outside and grey on the inside. The color is olive brown overall, with mottling at the ends. The body of the Bandtail is moderately elongated, with a width ranging from 29% to 33% of the standard length. I have 6GB RAM (of 16GB RAM total) and 4 CPUs dedicated to macOS, with the remainder of the M1 MacBook Air’s hardware dedicated to Parallels and Windows 11. The Parallels/Windows 11 virtual machine takes about 35GB of storage space. I did this all within three hours of work. After some fan-dangling to download the Windows 11 Insider Preview ISO file (the Windows 10 file has been discontinued and you can only download the file on a Windows machine), I was able to install Parallels 17, then Windows 11, then Sage 50 and ProFile, and then test everything. ![]() That the MacBook Air would have to run an ARM version of Windows also gave me great pause.Īfter a day of testing yesterday, I am happy to report the M1 MacBook Air passed with flying colours. Given that experience, I didn’t believe an M1 MacBook Air would meet my needs. I’ve skewed most of Parallel’s hardware controls towards the Windows 10 virtual machine. Even with this kind of hardware, ProFile can dwindle the virtual machine down to nothing. The iMac is decked out with 24GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and a six-core processor. It just takes a beefy computer to do it.)īecause of ProFile’s hardware needs, I’ve experimented over the last five or six months on moving formerly PC-only workflows onto a 2019 27-inch iMac. (It should exist though! ProFile works very well for our needs. Sometimes I wonder how this kind of software still exists. ProFile is also a monolithic, DOS-like program that looks like it comes from the 1980s. I’ve had 32GB of RAM eaten up in 5 tax returns. It eats RAM, especially when you have an entire family’s set of tax returns open. The ultimate question was “Could the M1 MacBook Air running a Windows 10 ARM virtual machine in Parallels run apps like Quickbooks, Sage 50, and Intuit’s ProFile tax software?”
In any case, Willow once again shows a propensity for hats that could potentially flop over her eyes. I've been mulling over whether this hat is fuschia or magenta. Later the tracks became available for download though more accessible channels, and amid the hype surrounding the new release was the story of how Beyoncé had cut a “country” song as part of the album called “Daddy Lessons.” In a last ditch effort to prove their relevancy in the media marketplace, struggling streaming service Tidal exclusively released a surprise record from pop diva Beyoncé late last week called Lemonade, though many believe it was too little too late for the entity partially owned by Beyoncé’s husband Jay-Z. So far, Beyonce herself hasn't commented on the boycott or the protests.Thank me later country fans, I ponied up the buck and change to listen to this track so you don’t have to. Last week, just three anti-Beyonce protesters attended a rally against the singer.Ī much larger number of black-rights supporters were present at the planned anti-Beyonce protest, including this woman, who called for an end to police brutality. ![]() The police's boycott, however, isn't received well among black-rights supporters, and turns out to be amplifying the #BlackLivesMatter debate. She fled to Cuba and is still one of the FBI's most-wanted criminals.Īnother police supporter commented that he wouldn't risk his life for someone who is calling for his death. Her political message quickly made waves, with #BlackLivesMatter activists like Deray McKesson, who is currently running for mayor in Baltimore, congratulating her.īut others weren't so excited by the Super Bowl performance, as the dancers' black berets recall the 1960s anti-racist black revolutionary group "The Black Panthers." The movement called for an end to police brutality, but some of its members were also convicted of murdering officers.Īfter the performance, one #BlueLivesMatter supporter tweeted this picture of a Black Panther member who was convicted of a police murder in the 1970s. The 20-time Grammy winner paid tribute to the #BlackLivesMatter movement when she entered the stage backed up by a team of black women dressed as "Black Panthers," calling for justice for an African American man killed recently by police in San Francisco. The real backlash started after Beyonce performed this very song at the Super Bowl halftime show. In the video, she celebrates African American life and blackness.īut what really upset police officers was that Beyonce also dismisses police brutality in the video, which starts off with her sitting on top of a sinking police car, and later features a graffiti reading "Stop Shooting Us," with a young black boy wearing a hoodie and dancing in front of police officers - apparently an allusion to Michael brown, who was shot dead by a police officer. The video, which was released via her husband Jay-Z's "Tidal" streaming service and is available to stream and download for free, is set in New Orleans and is an ode to Beyonce's roots in Louisiana. So why are some police officers so upset with Queen Bey? It all started one day ahead of the Super Bowl, when Beyonce released a surprise music video for her new song "Formation." It's her first new single since November 2014 and it immediately caused a bang. According to CNN, the executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations pledged support for the boycott. Other police unions, like the Massachusetts and Dallas Police Associations, are starting to discuss whether to support the boycott as well. The hashtag #BlueLivesMatter has been trending ever since and was used more than 14,000 times in the past week alone. The New York State Fraternal Order of Police had already called for a boycott of Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime show.Īnd now the Miami Fraternal Order of Police was the first to officially urge a boycott of her upcoming concerts after her performance, with Sergeant Javier Ortiz of the Miami Police Department posting this open call: ![]() Several police unions across the United States (US) are calling for police officers to refuse working paid off-duty security for Beyonce's upcoming concerts in the US as they feel her new song "Formation" has an anti-law enforcement message and is causing "anti-cop" sentiments. ![]() Google's real business is collecting marketing data. Helmut by June, a documentary film shot and directed by June Newton, Newton’s wife of 56 years, goes behind the scenes at several of his photo shoots and provides an intimate look into his private life and the couple’s remarkable relationship. In addition to the more than 100 prints displayed, the exhibit will feature two films about Newton. The photographs were made specifically for the exhibition and are large-scale – some reaching nearly six feet in size. On top of that, his compositions were brilliantly precise, cinematic in their scope and in their storytelling,” says Wallis Annenberg, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of the Annenberg Foundation. Newton deepened our understanding of changing gender roles, of the ways in which beauty creates its own kind of power and corruption. If Newton’s work was controversial, I believe it’s because he expressed the contradictions within all of us, and particularly within the women he photographed so beautifully: empowerment mixed with vulnerability, sensuality tempered by depravity. ![]() “Helmut Newton is one of the most powerful and influential photographers of the past century – the place where art and fashion and subversion and aspiration all collide.
